ARDA Submits Comments on CAM Licensing Rules in CO

Issue Brief

ARDA staff and member companies recently submitted comments regarding proposed rules designed to implement Community Association Manager (CAM) licensing in Colorado. Legislation passed in 2013 would require CAM licensing to begin in January 2015. The initial draft rules are primarily geared toward managers of whole ownership associations and do not effectively address the needs of vacation ownership communities. ARDA will be working with the Division of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) throughout the rule making process to have those issues better addressed.

Final rules which fail to account for the differences in the management needs between whole ownership and vacation ownership communities could place serious burdens on timeshare associations. Management costs could increase and staffing could become difficult without adding any value for timeshare owners.
