Texas Governor Rick Perry and all state-wide Republicans won re-election in 2010. The Senate remains at 19 GOP and 12 Democrats.  In the House, there are now 100 Republicans and 49 Democrats.  There is no regular session for 2012.

Texas SB 142 Withdrawn on House Floor in Furor of Amendments

After Texas SB 142 was amended and moved smartly out of the Senate and through a House Business & Industry hearing, the House sponsors decided to withdraw the bill on the House Floor after Representatives attached some 20 more amendments to the 43 page bill affecting Texas homeowners' associations.

Texas Condo Association Registration Bill Dead

Rep. Ruth Jones McClendon (District 120, San Antonio) condo association registration bill, HB 2328, died on the Calendar in the Texas House and never was considered by the Senate.

No Action on Sales Price Disclosure Bills in Texas

Unlike many other states, Texas has no real estate transfer fees and prices of real estate sales are not typically disclosed publicly.  Bills requiring real estate purchasers (including timeshare buyers) to disclose the sales price in order to record the sale died without hearing in the Legislature in 2011.

Texas Travel Club Rescission Bill Fails to Pass

The House Business & Industry Committee that heard the travel club rescission bill on March 28 approved the bill with ARDA amendments on April 18, but the bill failed to make it to the Senate and did not pass in the 2011 session.
