Democrat Jay Nixon was elected Governor of Missouri in 2008 following four terms as Attorney General. He will next stand for election in 2012. The Missouri General Assembly is controlled by Republicans. They hold a 26 – 8 margin in the Senate and stretched their margin to 106 – 57 in the House by gaining 18 seats in 2010.

The Senate is led by President Pro Tem Robert Mayer. The House is led by Speaker Steve Tilley. The Missouri Legislature convenes January 4, 2012 and will be an election year.

Missouri Timeshare Bill to be Heard on March 22

HB 1818, intended to address recurring property tax issues (particularly in Taney County), has been formally introduced in the Missouri legislature and is scheduled to be heard tomorrow, March 22, in the House General Laws Committee.
